BlackBerry's popular messaging service, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), was due for a roll-out last evening. But, the app never made it to the Google Play store and left a lot of Android users confused.

Later, a leaked version of the app surfaced online that was downloaded by over a million users.

For iPhone users, things went smooth as the BBM for iOS was available for download from Apple App Store approximately 20 minutes before the scheduled time.

This morning, BlackBerry has announced that it was pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. The official BBM twitter account tweeted," We know you're waiting. Pausing #BBM4All rollout to fix issues caused by unreleased BBM for Android app."

The announcement says, "The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already - more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app - is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day."

BBM app from the App Store has been taken off but those who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to use it. Whereas the unreleased Android app will be disabled, users who downloaded the app will have to visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability. The leaked Android app has not been disabled yet and is working at the moment. The user interface of the BBM for Android and iPhone is exactly the same as on the BlackBerry OS 10.

After fixing the issues, BlackBerry will once again start a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. The company hasn't shared any timeline for the new roll-out.

Sachin Tendulkar will bow out from the game, which he embellished for close to a quarter of a century, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by playing his landmark 200th Test match against the West Indies in November.

It was at this very venue that he made his debut in First Class cricket.

The legendary batsman expressed a wish to play his landmark 200th match against the West Indies next month in front of his home crowd.

The BCCI's Programmes and Fixtures committee, headed by Rajiv Shukla, met here on Tuesday to chalk out the detailed schedule of the hastily-arranged series comprising two Tests and three ODIs.

Shukla said that the committee decided to grant Tendulkar's wish to play his last Test at the venue where he made his debut in first class cricket -- the Wankhede Stadium.

The Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the opening clash of the series from November 6 to 10 and like Wankhede, gets an 'out-of-turn' Test match as according to the BCCI's rotational policy, it was actually Bangalore and Ahmedabad's turn.

The second Test is scheduled from November 14-18.

The Caribbean side will also play three ODIs slated for November 21, 24 and 27.

The venues for the first two One-day Internationals will be Kochi and Visakhapatnam, respectively, while the third ODI is yet to be decided.

According to Shukla, the final ODI could go to either Kanpur or Baroda.

The BCCI is also planning a grand farewell for Tendulkar.

The Board had squeezed in the home series against the West Indies to give Tendulkar an opportunity to retire in front of his home fans.

Tendulkar last week announced his decision to retire from Test cricket after playing his landmark match, bringing an end to the intense speculation about his future.

The itinerary of the series between India and the West Indies:
October 28: The West Indies cricket team arrives in India.

October 31-November 2: Three-day game (West Indies v UPCA at Cuttack).

November 6-10: First Test at Kolkata.

November 14-18: Second Test at Mumbai.

November 21: First ODI at Kochi.

November 24: Second ODI at Visakhapatnam.

November 27: Third ODI at Baroda/Kanpur.

Big Boss

The reality show Bigg Boss can never be complete without theatrical moments created by the in-house drama queens and kings each season. The seventh season of the show has a new set of contestants who are using innovative antics to create drama on the show, grab more footage and gain more TVTs.

Model-turned-actress Gauhar Khan is undoubtedly the uncrowned queen of drama this season. She has come prepared to hog the limelight. Her camera friendly presence, ability to get into fights with co-contestants and create a love angle for herself with Kushal Tandon has added to her popularity.

TV actress Shilpa Saklani is using her traditional telly bahu image to be the perfect bhabhi of the house. Keeping the kitchen under her control, she dominates hubby actor Apurva Agnihotri. Besides, Shilpa's ability to shed tears is adding to her advantage. Television's favourite vamp Kamya Punjabi, with her control-freak and no-nonsense attitude on the show, is making using of her vampish streaks to create drama.

Bollywood's forgotten actor Armaan Kohli, known for his volatile temper, has perfected his role as the bully of the season. VJ Andy is the biggest attention seeker who can cry, laugh, make faces and indulge in long bitching-gossiping sessions with equal ease.

Swedish model Elli Avram has come in the good books of anchor Salman Khan who misses no chance to pull her leg over her inability to speak Hindi. Elli is all set to be seen in the soon-to-be released film Mickey Virus.

Kajol's little sister Tanisha, who enjoys maximum support from Salman for being a Bollywood kid, is maintaining her good girl image. She enjoyed being the captain of the house and avoided being getting eliminated. Wrestler Sangram Singh is managing to give drama moments with his rustic image. He has been given English lessons by Elli, and has turned into a cool dude after his recent mohawk haircut.

MSD

MSD

MS Dhoni has surpassed Sourav Ganguly as India's most successful skipper with 22 Test wins. TOI takes a look at what makes the Indian captain tick...

Calm and Composed: Both VVS Laxman andRahul Dravid have mentioned during their commentary stints that the one quality that serves MS Dhoni well is his equanimity. Even after the World Cup win, he didn't get too delirious. One also didn't find him flustered or depressed after humiliating defeats in England and Australia. His phlegmatic nature has helped him keep things in perspective in a country where emotions can be extreme.

Hands-on, but not too over-bearing: It's no secret that Dhoni enjoys leading a young group and prefers to empower them with confidence and promise of a long run. As skipper, he also likes to give the players a free hand. Players like Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara have all revelled under him.

Solid contributor down the order: The 31-year-old has played momentum-changing knocks. In Chennai, his brutal 224 was morale-sapping for the Aussies. In conditions where the ball doesn't move or bounce, he has murdered even good attacks with his strong bottom-hand style of batting. Even bowlers like Steyn and Morkel bore the burnt of his fury in Kolkata in 2010.

Inheritor of a great side: The transition from Kumble to Dhoni was largely free of turbulence because India had a settled side. Who wouldn't want to captain a team with batsmen like Gambhir, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman? The quintet was in peak form from 2008 to 2011 with Tendulkar and Dravid enjoying a productive second wind. Before R Ashwin emerged on the scene, the bowling too was in good hands with Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh forming a penetrative quartet.

Maximised Home advantage: Kumble's departure as skipper proved timely as Dhoni got to captain a side that was scheduled to play plenty of Tests at home or in subcontinent conditions for almost two and a half years. Barring the Test series in New Zealand in early 2009, India played inAsia till Dec 2010, when they played in South Africa. It allowed Dhoni the time to settle down as skipper, in conditions where he could control the game. His struggles started from the tour of England post the World Cup, where the batsmen failed collectively and key bowlers like Zaheer Khan got injured.

Reinvented himself As skipper: Dhoni appeared stale and defensive in Australia and in the home series against England. His fields were defensive and he became more of a reactive captain. That his bowlers weren't consistent and his batsmen were in poor form didn't help. Now that the runs are flowing again and Ashwin is back to his very best, one is seeing a more expressive Dhoni, both as captain and skipper.

DRAVID about VIRU

DRAVID ON SEWAG'S PERFOMANCE

NEW DELHI: Former India captain Rahul Dravid has said that the national selectors must take a call on whether to continue with struggling Virender Sehwag as an opener in the Test series in South Africa later this year or give someone else a chance.

"I think the selectors and management need to decide whether they are going to open with Viru (Virender) in South Africa," Dravid said.

"I mean Viru playing well, Viru at his best, is a great asset to any side, but the reality is that he hasn't been performing particularly well, and he hasn't really done well on overseas trips over the last two or three years.

"If they feel confident about opening with Sehwag in South Africa, then I think it makes sense to continue with Sehwag and give him the opportunity to get that confidence," he added.

Even though India registered commanding victories in the first two Tests against Australia in Chennai and Hyderabad, the opening partnership between Sehwag and Murali Vijay could produce only 11, 16 and 17 runs. While Vijay scored a fine 167 in Hyderabad, Sehwag has totalled only 27 in his three innings.

The selectors will be picking the Indian squad for the last two Tests against Australia on Thursday.

After the two remaining Tests against Australia, India have no more five-day games scheduled before their trip to South Africa at the end of the year and Dravid felt that a young opener should be tested in home conditions first before throwing him in front of the new ball in foreign conditions.

"I think it makes sense to try out another youngster, or try out another opener, and give him the opportunity to play at least a couple of Test matches in more familiar conditions, before going to South Africa.

"I think it will be unfair on any young opener to be asked to go to South Africa straightaway, and play against the likes of Steyn, Philander and Morkel," Dravid said.

He was of the view that the selectors could explore the option of moving Sehwag down the order.

"If they are going to look ahead, I think there could be a realistic possibility of Sehwag coming into the middle order," Dravid said.

"You know if opportunities open up at some stage, maybe Sachin is going to move on, then I think Viru is the man with the experience to be able to come in and bat in the middle order. He has said in the past that he would like to, and that could be an option," he insisted.

Sehwag has failed to fire in five consecutive Tests after getting a hundred in the opening game of the home series against England at Ahmedabad in November-December last year.

He was unable to score even a half-century in two home Tests against New Zealand.

During India's last overseas tour, in Australia, Sehwag scored just 198 runs in eight innings.
